Frequently Asked Questions
We split the year into 3 different swim seasons for VAC. We have a winter season that starts in November and runs into March. We also have a short 4-6 week spring program that begins at the end of April and goes until school lets out in June. Then, we have a summer season from June until early August.
Swim meets occur on different days depending on the season. For our spring season, we do not compete in any meets. Swimmers just come to practice to work as a team on strokes. In the summer, most meets are on Saturdays but sometimes we have a local evening dual meet against another local swim club. These tend to be scheduled for Thursdays. During the winter season, meets are exclusively on weekends (mostly Saturdays). There are some optional championship meets in both the summer and winter that are 3-5 days long, usually a Wed-Sat or Thurs-Sun.
This also depends on the season. During the school year, practices are during the evenings and during the summer, practices are in the mornings. The number of practices and exact times depend on the age and level of your child. You can view our general practice schedule under "Resources".
We require all children signing up to be able to comfortably swim one length of a 25 yard pool. If your child is not quite there yet, let us know, we have very good local swim schools we can refer you to that can propel your child in this ability. We love love love new swimmers! Even at older ages.
Registration fees vary depending on the season (Winter, Spring, or Summer). The shorter seasons are less expensive... Spring being the shortest and Summer being a close second. Costs are generally driven by pool rental and coaching salaries. We are a for-profit swim club but operate efficiently on a very small margin. Depending on the age of the swimmer and season, registration costs range from $200-$1,000 per child.
